700th Goal Comes in Loss to Devils
Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin scored his 700th NHL goal during the team's 3-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils on February 22, 2020. The goal made Ovechkin just the eighth player in NHL history to reach the 700-goal mark, joining Wayne Gretzky (894), Gordie Howe (801), Jaromir Jagr (766), Brett Hull (741), Marcel Dionne (731), Phil Esposito (717), and Mike Gartner (708).
