Husky Star Suffers Blow Team Prevails In Quarters

Edwards Departs UConn's Triumph Over Providence With Nasal Injury

Husky Star Suffers Blow, Team Prevails in Quarters

Nose Injury Halts Edwards' Play

UNCASVILLE, Conn. - UConn Huskies center Aaliyah Edwards exited Saturday's Big East quarterfinal victory against Providence after sustaining an elbow to the nose in the third quarter. The injury occurred during a rebounding battle with Providence's Sarah Bandoma with just over six minutes remaining.

Edwards left the court clutching her nose and did not return. The extent of her injury is unknown at this time, but she is expected to undergo further evaluation. Her absence did not deter the Huskies, who cruised to a 69-39 victory over the Friars.

Connecticut's dominance was evident throughout the game. They took control of the game early and never looked back. Christyn Williams led the way with 18 points, while Lou Lopez Senechal added 14. The Huskies' relentless defense held Providence to just 32% shooting from the field.

Despite the loss of Edwards, UConn remains a formidable force in the Big East tournament. They will face No. 2 seed Villanova in the semifinals on Sunday.
